Croydon is a district in South London situated 9.3 miles south of Charring Cross. Best of both worlds - tranquility and in the hub of urban life.Fantastic parks nearby and plenty of activities for the children. Also, you are spoilt for choice with the numerous restaurants and bars. Shop till you drop at the nearby Whitgift Centre in Croydon -easy access with a short train (or bus) ride away. South Norwood is an urban town with the benefit of leafy, quiet surroundings. It is in the London Borough of Croydon, so very easy access from Gatwick ( M23) or Heathrow (M25). It is a suburban development only 15 mins train ride from Charing Cross., and great regular links into London Bridge. The south-eastern side of the town is dominated by the 125 acre Country Park which opened in 1989. At the other northern end of the town is South Norwood Lakes. It is used by the Croydon Sailing Club and local anglers who fish for carp, bream and perch. There are also many other parks and childrens playing facilities in between. It forms the ward of South Norwood in the local authority of Croydon. There is a public sports centre and swimming pool, and a public library. The town has a high street which forms part of Selhurst Road which includes a number of banks, estate agents, pubs, and a coffee house. Portland Road also has many restaurants form Chinese to Ghanaian to delight the palate. It is a commuter town, with many residents travelling easily to either the bustling town of Croydon or the City of London for employment via the large railway station. (Norwood Junction) Regular buses and trains into Central London and trams, trains/ buses into Croydon (a great shopping area) - parks and green space ( Norwood Lakes, Crystal Palace Park, South Norwood Country Park) means that South Norwood offers the best of both worlds and an adequate balance between peace and quiet and the hustle and bustle of city life!
